Tennessee softball won its three-game series against Georgia and did it without star outfielder Kiki Milloy

After Sunday’s 3-1 win over No. 3 Georgia (31-8, 7-5 SEC) at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium, Tennessee coach Karen Weekly said Milloy only has a "rolled ankle." On Friday, a school spokesperson said Milloy was "day-to-day."

"I think we're pretty optimistic we'll get her back next week," Weekly said.

The No. 6 Lady Vols (30-6, 10-2) won Friday's game 5-1 before losing 3-2 on Saturday.

UT’s next game is on April 12, which is a series opener at Mississippi State.

Milloy, a graduate student, is hitting .355 and has nine home runs, tied for the most on the team with senior Rylie West. Milloy also has 20 RBIs and 20 steals.

Kiki Milloy’s impact

While Milloy did not play, her presence in the dugout was still a boost for the Lady Vols.

“Her energy, her passion, her confidence, she was just pouring into her teammates the whole entire game,” Weekly said. “I’ve never coached anybody like her.

“I hope other players are learning a lot from what she does.”

Junior Sophia Nugent also raved about Milloy’s importance in the series-clinching win.

“I feel like she gave us so much confidence,” said Nugent, who had a home run and three RBIs on Sunday.  “She was in there cheering on everybody and she made everyone was locked with our plan.

Milloy set the school's career home run record earlier this season. She now has 65.

Milloy hit .406 last season and set three Tennessee single-season records with 25 homers, 86 runs scored and a .929 slugging percentage. The Woodinville, Washington native also had a .554 on-base percentage and an OPS of 1.483, helping her earn NFCA first-team All-America honors and make the All-SEC first team.
